SuperWorld Brings the Metaverse 🌐 to Miami Art Week

SuperWorld and SuperRare partner up for a groundbreaking NFT Takeover in Augmented Reality

RAREWORLD

This past week, SuperWorld spent time at Miami Art Week, and we’ve got lots to report. First and foremost, RAREWORLD, our collaboration with NFT platform SuperRare at the Miami Convention Center, was a resounding success. In what was dubbed an “NFT Takeover,” SuperWorld and SuperRare exhibited 3D digital art and sculptures from renowned NFT artists in Augmented Reality (AR), with the works on display sold on SuperRare via a reserve auction throughout the week.

The immersive works in RAREWORLD were installed in AR throughout the Convention Center in guerrilla fashion, probably by gnomes or some other extraction of .glb goblins 👀 ….Then, visitors were encouraged to locate the art, snap a screenshot of the works in-situ and share them on social media for an opportunity to win a POAP (Proof of Attendance Protocol) badge to collect as a memento of the event.

“We are thrilled to partner with SuperWorld to bring an augmented reality experience of our curated artists’ works to Miami Beach Convention Center,” said SuperRare CEO John Crain. “It’s been an incredible year for NFTs and this is just the beginning. NFTs are the future of immersive interactive art and Miami Beach Convention Center seemed like the ideal setting to show the world a sneak peak of what we have in store.”

Curated by SuperRare to showcase an array of artists who work in 3D and AR, the full RAREWORLD exhibition of over a dozen unique works was activated and brought to life through SuperWorld’s AR technology and dynamic app interface.

SuperWorld Co-Founder and CEO Hrish Lotlikar adds, “SuperWorld is proud to co-sponsor the RAREWORLD event with SuperRare. Viewers can appreciate splendid works of art in the Metaverse that provide both a geographical and emotional context. This is achieved by utilizing immersive AR through the SuperWorld app in the form of an NFT Takeover”.

The festivities started when members of the SuperWorld team arrived in Miami from all over the globe, including locales ranging from Austin and Toronto to New York and Tel Aviv, many of whom were able to meet in person for the first time in years due to travel restrictions brought on by the pandemic. Once ensconced in Miami, the first order of business was to set up our informational display for NFT BZL at the FTX Arena downtown on November 30th.

Accompanying the SuperWorld display was the “Emerald Matrix NFT,” an interactive project by SuperWorld Inner Circle artist Techmental, featuring an original animated video that represents the origin story and fictional discovery of the Emerald Matrix, along with unlockable content consisting of an actual emerald stone weighing in at over 200 pounds! Through a series of hernia-inducing heaves and hos, the SuperWorld team was able to negotiate the stone in place with only minimal embarrassment, as our collective grunting echoed dramatically through the empty pavilion in the lead-up to the event.

The SuperWorld team led demonstrations of our app and Virtual Real Estate platform, and held discussions with hundreds of interested event goers, including an onsite interview with the Wild West Crypto Show and other media outlets. Meanwhile, inside the arena, SuperWorld Global Ambassador Krista Kim joined a lineup of prominent thought leaders and creatives in the NFT space for a riveting panel discussion entitled, “How NFTs are Disrupting the Art Industry,” moderated by Kelly Blanco of NBC and featuring Nifty Gateway founders Duncan and Griffin Cock Foster, Boss Beauties co-founder Lisa Mayer and “The Godfather of Street Art,” Ron English. Meanwhile, and as these proceedings unfolded, preparations for our NFT Takeover continued apace across the bridge in South Beach, at the Miami Convention Center.

As the RAREWORLD exhibit continued to enchant fairgoers throughout Miami Art Week, the SuperWorld team embarked on other projects too, including AR activations for The Lost Avatars and DressX, along with sponsoring auctions for NFTs for NGOs by Faraway Projects and ArkHAUS, just to name a few.

Hopefully, you were able to make it down to Miami in person to take in all the events during Miami Art Week. It was great to connect with so many interesting, creative and talented people and we’re looking forward to building our relationships with the hundreds of artists, collectors and Metaverse mavens we met during our time in Miami. For those who were unable to make the trip, however, we’re hoping to see you in SuperWorld soon, and encourage everyone to check in on our mobile app to catch new and compelling AR, build community and take the next steps toward making the Metaverse your home in SuperWorld.

Thanks for helping SuperWorld to make RAREWORLD an NFT and AR event for the ages, and be sure to check out more exciting work from the lineup of featured artists:
